C’est La Vie “Alec” oozes talent, with years of miles in the eq/hunter ring through the 3’6”. Has shown in the high performance hunters, A/O hunters, derbies, etc. Scope is not an issue! He can be spooky, and opportunistic. The more you ignore his antics the better he goes. Some days he’s the one we put the kids on and he happily packs them around with an open throatlatch. Other times he’s spooking at the bushes. He’ll always get you to the other side, walks the lines, auto changes, doesn’t ride big, and gets a piece of the hack even in steel. Great derby horse! Very little annual maintenance.
Full disclosure: it’s not if he’ll get loose from you on the ground, but when. He loves to flip a 90 degree and leave you in the dust, it’s currently his most annoying feature. Very self preserving though and mainly wants to go rile up his friends. A stall with an attached paddock would probably solve that issue. We also just mount in the barn to avoid the drama
